Peggy "Nanny" Hill

Peggy “Nanny” Hill, age 77, of Decatur, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Summerford Health and Rehab Center in Falkville. Born on November 28, 1947, in Hollywood, Florida, Peggy was the daughter of Michael and Ann Waite Falciani. She lived a life full of compassion, wit, and love for her family and community. Peggy proudly served as an LPN at Decatur General Hospital for 40 years—a career she never hesitated to mention when meeting someone new. She had a natural gift for caregiving, and her servant’s heart made her beloved by all who knew her. Whether it was offering a listening ear, a warm hug, or even the shirt off her back, Peggy gave of herself freely and lovingly. In her later years, Peggy enjoyed the simple pleasures of life: completing crossword puzzles, watching Little House on the Prairie or Gone with the Wind on repeat, and staying up to date with both her grandchildren and the royal family—Princess Diana was a favorite topic in nearly every conversation. A longtime member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Peggy found joy in her faith and her community. She was a regular at Olive Garden and Cracker Barrel, always ready to enjoy her favorite treat—Coca-Cola cake. Her days at Summerford were filled with warmth and connection. She loved greeting the staff each morning, asking about their children and fur babies, while proudly sharing the latest updates on her grandchildren—and most recently, her excitement about becoming a great-grandmother. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Ann Falciani, and her beloved fur babies, Bucky and Bella. She is survived by her three grandchildren, whom she adored: Chelsea (David) Pope, Natalie (Elijah) Cox, and Noah Hill; her great-grandson, Maverick Pope; her brother, Johnny (Ellen) Falciani; and many cherished loved ones, including Jennifer Free, Amanda Bain (Ray) and children Caleb, Chloe, and Cailyn, and Jessica Roy (Randall) and daughter Ryleigh. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Decatur Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Hal Daigre officiating. Burial will follow at Midway Memorial Gardens in Moulton. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Peggy’s legacy of kindness, strength, and unwavering love for her family will never be forgotten.
