Charles Reid Davis

Charles Reid Davis, age 91, passed away on May 8, 2026 at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Somerville, Alabama, the eldest child of Carter and Lucille Lyle Davis. Charles is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Margaret McDowra Davis, two sisters, Katheryn Landers (Burl) and Martha Jo Landers; one brother, Vann Davis (Pat); and his two sons, Charles Timothy “Tim” Davis (Michele) and Thomas Wayne “Tom” Davis (Carrie. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Lauren Ray (Chris), Eva Davis and Mary Davis; and two great grandchildren, Layla Ray and Porter Ray. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Murray Landers. Charles proudly served his country in the United Sates Army enlisting on November 8, 1957. He was honorably discharged on January 29, 1964, having attained the rank of Sergeant (E-5). His service reflected his strong sense of duty and commitment. He dedicated 35 years of service to Chemstrand/Monsanto, where he was known for his strong work ethic and loyalty. A man of deep faith, he served as a Baptist deacon for 55 years faithfully contributed as the sound engineer at Cedar Ridge Baptist Church in Decatur. After retirement, he worked at Classic Car for many years, where he was known to many as “Charlie D.” In his free time, Charles enjoyed bowling and had a passion for working on hot rods. He will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his church, and the many lives he touched through his kindness and steady presence. Funeral services will be held to celebrate his live at the graveside on Roselawn Cemetery on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at 10:30 AM, the dress is casual per family request. The family will receive friends on Monday, May 11, 2026 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Decatur Brown Service Funeral Home. Pastors Marshall Turner and Jonathan Henderson will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Tim Davis, Tom Davis, John McDowrs, Chris Ray, Porter Ray and Jason Wilson. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to SouthernCare New Beacon Hospice, whose staff showed great care, compassion, and love for Charles and his family.
